Esther and I decided to take our kids hiking. She has some behind her house, but they are just pretty views and not really a destination. We thought with kids, we should have a destination. So her friend recommended Rocky Mount in Draper. We had to hike through a million dollar neighborhood to get to the trail head. (It really was a million dollar neighborhood. One house was for sale for $1, 125,000.) It was pretty shady and a nice short hike. Kara had tantrums and didn't want to hike, so it took a lot longer to get up to the waterfall than it should have. The first picture is in a little bat cave. Wesley is standing in the back with Kara on his shoulders. He must be in the dark too much. Wesley was a good sport and carried Kara most of the way.
The kids had fun scaling the rocks to get to the top of some of the falls. It was fun to watch them work together. Wesley was a big help again and lifted girls up and down the rocks.
This one is kind of blurry, but I love Wes and one girl on his back and one girl in the front.
On the way back the kids found a port-a-potty that was tipped over. How fascinating. We had to stop and check it out. . . and a few of them climbed inside. Luckily, it was unused.
They were so filthy by the time we were done, but they had a good time. We stopped for slushies at Sonic, rushed home, had baths, and got ready for Grandma's birthday party and our final farewell to all the family.
