This is a picture of Wes for field day. Each homeroom had a different color. Nice color, right? He'll probably never wear it again. Maybe I should!
Wes wanted to do track last year. He did all the practices, but didn't make the team. I think they let some 8th graders have the spots because it was their last year to do it. This was a big disappointment to Wes. But he didn't let it stop him from trying again...plus he is one of the 8th graders now. He did have a younger student "challenge" him for his spot on the team. This consisted of racing each other. Wes was ahead of the boy the whole time and then the boy got a leg cramp (or else an ego cramp!). So Wes kept his spot on the team. He has been good to attend the practices three days a week after school. Saturday was his first meet. This one conflicted with hockey, so he only got to do two of his four events. This shows him getting ready for his race-the 400.
Janiel and Macey were so cute. They made him a poster: Go Wesley! You're fast! Run, Wes, Run! You Rock! You can do it Wes! You're going to win! You're #1! (and my favorite) Believe in Yourself! They are so funny.
And they're off! Wes is in the gray, second from the front.
Across the field, he held on to the second place spot!
Coming in home! In second place!!! I'm so proud of him! I think he said the man in black on the grass is his coach. Hopefully I will be able to get better pictures in the coming meets. He also did the discus throw, but was disappointed in his throw. His friend Noah won first in that event.
We were 15 minutes late to his hockey game. But he made up for that by scoring the goal that tied the game and the winning goal in the last 25 seconds of the game. Erin kept herself busy by making a pine cone trail.
