Christmas Eve

We heard a lot of racket Christmas Eve morning.  I thought there must have been a terrible accident somewhere close.  But by lunch time, it was coming down our street.  The girls were so excited to see Santa come down our street.  Unfortunately, Brent and Janiel were out shopping, so they missed it.

He tossed mini candy canes (which were shattered from hitting the sidewalk).  Then he surprised the girls by throwing them little stuffed animals.  Erin and Ashleigh got little dogs and Kara got a turkey.  They instantly fell in love with their pets and we could have skipped Christmas! Kara stood and waved as long as she could see him and she was very serious about it too!  I should have taken a picture of her!
That night, we were getting ready for bed and watching a Christmas special on TV, when Santa burst through our front door.  The little girls were surprised and a little afraid.  They backed up to the couch and no one wanted to sit on his lap.  But with a little convincing, they did.  He told them to be good and go right to bed so that he could come back and bring the presents.  He left and the girls continued to talk and ask questions.  They asked about his reindeer on the roof.  So we went outside to look.  There weren't any reindeer, but Ashleigh spotted Santa in the sky.  His lights were flashing red, green and white (That airplane couldn't have planned it more perfectly!) It was so cute to see the twinkles in their eyes.  Kara ran right up and got ready for bed.  She even tucked herself in while we were praying with the other girls.  Kara said, "I know about two lists.  The nice and the naughty lists!"  It was fun and we are so grateful for Brother Shaw and his desire to bring joy to kids during the Christmas season. Brent set up the video camera, so we have it recorded, but I didn't think to take regular pictures.  Maybe I'll post some video later.
