Christmas

Brent was very disappointed that out of all the students, he was the one that got to work Christmas Day, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  It was maddening, knowing that some of the students are single and Brent is the one with the most kids.  Oh well.  So Santa came a day early.  We didn't tell the kids.  I heard Ashleigh go downstairs and come back upstairs to get Erin.  They went down.  Came back up and got Kara.  They went down.  Came back up to tell Janiel, who said, "No he didn't come.  It's only Christmas Eve."  Then they came to get us.  Kind of cute.
It was a fun surprise for them.  We had a really good day.  The kids were pleased with their gifts---even when we kept it pretty simple.  Grandma and Grandpa Prime sent some money to help us get to Disney World.  That was their big gift from us and the Prime Grandparents.  They were so excited when they found out.  We will go in a couple of weeks!!!
Janiel got a new bike.  She had outgrown her other one!
Nothing like a Christmas Shave!  Our little boy is growing up!
Erin wanted a walking dog!  (This isn't the remote control one she wanted, but she wasn't disappointed.  I made a leash and collar for it and I think that made the difference!)
Ashleigh wanted a horse---then changed to a pink unicorn.  But she got Rapunzel and Max.
Kara wanted a Polly Pocket Swimming Pool.  She was so excited to try it out!
Erin walking her dog.
Erin using her candy filled cane to walk like an old lady!
We let the kids play with their Santa toys and stockings for a little bit.  Then while I made the traditional oven omelet, the kids got dressed.
Then we unwrapped the rest of the gifts.  The kids took turns playing Santa and passing out the gifts.

I think Kara makes a pretty cute Santa.
Grandma and Grandpa Breinholt sent some make-up and Polly Pockets for the little girls.
Ashleigh trying on some lip gloss!
Wes got a "Fathead" for his wall.  It is a vinyl sticker of his favorite hockey player, Sydney Crosby.
Janiel wanted some Karaoke for the Wii.  She has had fun with her friend.
Janiel got some cute accessories from Grandma and Grandpa Breinholt.
Wes got a Soda Can Robug from Grandma and Grandpa.  He had a fun time building it.  He also got some slippers from them, which have become his favorite things to wear around the house!
Wes has a job (as I mentioned before, helping at hockey camps).  So he wanted to buy his sisters a gift.  When we got the the store, he kind of changed his mind.  I think he was a little overwhelmed.  Then he found some little erasers shaped as different things.  So he got them each one.  He is about to pass them out:
They did a dog pile on him.  A simple eraser was the gift, but a lot of love was felt.  I was glad that he is thoughtful and can show love to his sisters (when he chooses).
It was a great day.  They kids had fun. The best part was that we could spend it together.  Brent did luck out the next day.  He didn't have to do a single case.  But had we waited, he probably would have worked the whole day.
It was nice to just get up Christmas morning and get ready for church too.  We had a nice church meeting, played some more in the afternoon, then went to our neighbors for a yummy Christmas dinner.  That was a great day too.
