Our new neighbor (and ex-landlord) feeds the turtles and fish everyday. She invited the girls to come and help her. They had a great time. She feeds them bread, cheerios, rice crispies and rice. She can get the turtles to come ashore and even has pet the fish. She went on vacation, so she asked us if we would take care of the turtles. She brought over food, like taking care of the neighbor's dog!

| Here comes the turtle for food. We have seen about 5 at a time. |
| There are also catfish and some small fish that feed close to shore. There is some kind of fish that doesn't come close, but as soon as the bread hits the water, there is a splash and it is gone. |
| This turtle really wanted some bread. |
| Ashleigh was so excited to pet the turtle. |
| She was lucky to be able to feed and pet it several times. |
This Great Blue Heron is a funny bird. He hangs around while the fish are being fed. Not too dumb: wait till they come close for bread, then get them. We haven't seen him catch one, but Karen has lots of times. He waits for Karen to come out. This past week, he has been waiting every day. He hangs out on Karen's patio furniture-standing on the back of a chair. Karen said once she was getting dressed and she saw him peeking in her window. Funny. He is a large bird and amazing to watch. I think that he has seen better days. A little roughed up and blind in one eye. He tilts his good eye toward the water to watch the fish. Karen has stories to tell about him. As soon as we are done feeding the fish and turtles, he moves in closer to the active fishing spot!
Cute turtles! I want to pet one too... :) So many fun adventures in Florida.
